Marble is a metamorphic rock composed of recrystallized carbonate minerals, most commonly calcite and dolomite. Marble occurs in a very wide range of colors and is widely used in table and vanity tops, bath tub surround, fireplaces, etc. Some marbles are more porous than others, however it is recommended to use sealers to protect the countertop against acids and to avoid stains or watermarks. Marbles are softer than stainless steel, therefore they can be scratched by regular kitchen utensils. However, due to its physical properties, it is relatively easy to remove the scratches using simple hand machine tools.
